Is This a Bad Movie or What? A time for action. A time for prayer

How do you stay spiritually grounded and wisely activated when the world feels overwhelming?

Ever feel like we’re stuck in a bad movie? The headlines are a horror show, the plot keeps getting worse, and we’re all bracing for the next twist. The speed at which our world is unraveling can feel overwhelming.

But this is not a time for despair. It’s a time for action. A time for prayer.

As it always is.

At KC Underground, before we are a microchurch movement, before we are a disciple-making movement, we are first and foremost we aspire to be a prayer movement—and not just any kind of prayer movement, but one rooted in abiding prayer (John 15:5).

Tuesdays: A Day of Prayer and Fasting

Every Tuesday, across our networks, we come together in a shared rhythm of prayer and fasting. Though we are scattered across the city, we unite in spirit by praying through a common guide—because in a decentralized movement, unity is built in the presence of God, not in a building (Acts 1:14).

Right now, we are praying through our Manifesto—eighteen values that shape us and bind us to our sister movements in the Underground Network. Today, we’re focused on Passion. You can check out the prayer and fasting guide here.

Cultivating a Culture of Extraordinary Prayer: A Short Talk from Chicago

Last spring, I had the chance to share at 100 Movements Gathering in Chicago about how we are cultivating a culture of extraordinary prayer within KC Underground. We wanted to share that talk here today.

I’d love to hear your thoughts:
🔥 What stands out to you?
🙏 How are you cultivating a culture of prayer in your network or faith community?

Let’s keep pressing in. As Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7).

We’re knocking. Let’s do it together.
